HASTA ENCONTRARLES: THE CARAVAN OF MOTHERS OF MISSING MIGRANTS AND ROOT CAUSES OF MIGRATION
SPEAKERS: CARAVAN OF MOTHERS OF MISSING MIGRANTS, KIRSTEN WELD, SUYAPA PORTILLO VILLEDA, JORGE E. CUÉLLAR
For the past seventeen years, the Caravan of Mothers of Missing Migrants has traveled across Mexico searching for disappeared loved ones and demanding concrete changes in migration policy. For the first time, this fall, four mothers will continue their pilgrimage into the United States. In an event moderated by Kirsten Weld, madres will engage in conversation with Suyapa Portillo Villeda and Jorge E. Cuéllar to discuss the criminalization of migration and the root causes of displacement, as well as ongoing efforts to locate the disappeared. This conversation will focus not only on the right to migrate but centers the voices of those struggling to stay and thrive in their homelands.
ABOUT THE EVENT
